UPDATED RULES OF BANKRUPTCY PROCEDURE EFFECTIVE DEC. 1, 2009

The Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure will change effective December 1, 2009. The Eastern District Local Rules will also change to comply with the federal rules.

The changes are as follows:
  1. Throughout the rules, deadlines are amended in the following manner:
    • 5-day periods become 7-day periods
    • 8-day periods become 7-day periods (local rule change)
    • 10-day periods become 14-day periods
    • 15-day periods become 14-day periods
    • 20-day periods become 21-day periods
    • 25-day periods become 28-day periods
    • 30-day periods become 28-day periods (local rule change)
  2. A reaffirmation agreement must be accompanied by a cover sheet (new official form 27) to comply with F.R.Bk.P. 4008(b). The form will be available on our website on 12/1/2009.
